Workshop for Home Educated Children, Woking Monday March 13th

We were invited to provide a workshop for home school educated children in Woking. We played a few pieces so that they could hear what the pans sounded like and then taught them a few simple tunes. They were fascinated by the pans and how they were made and really appreciated them as an instrument.

Travel Dreams Travel Fair, Godalming Saturday 1st April

This was a long, but rewarding gig as the venue was inside and the organisers were obviously pleased with our performance. You could see toe tapping and smiles from across the room which is always nice.

Sensory Day, Childrens' Trust, Tadworth Friday 7th April

We thought this would be a difficult gig, having played at the QEF for a party, but this was very different. There was so much love and happiness in the room and so much appreciation for the music.

We felt very uplifted by the experience and glad to have brought so many smiles to their faces.

They even had a chance to try the pans too.

The Concert Club, Leatherhead Wednesday 3rd May

This was one of, if not, the best gigs we have ever played for. Never have we had a more appreciative audience. Mostly blind or partially sighted, but some just elderly members of this Concert Club, clapped and sang along.

Some members of Pantasia joined us for this concert as Panache were short of players and they thoroughly enjoyed it too.

One member of the audience was like a talking juke box, able to name the tunes and the years they came out and who sung or recorded them. It was brilliant.

Wedding, Hayling Island Saturday 6th May

This was a fair way to travel to Hayling Island especially when it appeared most of the guests and family were from Bookham, but nevertheless a super location and a sunny day as well.

Claire joined us as Mary was unable to play.

Appleby House Care Home, Epsom Friday 16th June

Despite a lack of players for Panache, with the help of players from Sound of Steel, Steel Magnolias and Jack we put on a good show and loved seeing the residents of the Care Home having such a lovely time dancing along to our tunes.

40th Wedding Anniversary, Bookham Sunday 23rd July

We were invited to play for this 40th Wedding Anniversary Party after being seen at Bookham Village Day last year.

We were lucky the rain held off long enough for us to welcome the guests to the garden party.

These are the kind words from our hostess after the event:

We should like to say a huge thank you for all that you, your husband and lovely band did for us on Sunday. What joy you brought us! We were delighted and you were so organised.
Please thank your husband especially for bringing the projector and setting up the laptop.
You were all just wonderful

Wedding, Newdigate Saturday 29th July

A teaching assistant that I used to work with when I had my first Steel Band invited us to to play for her daughter in law's sister's Wedding in a beautiful barn in Newdigate.

Unfortunately it was raining all afternoon and although we were in the dry we were a little away from the guests so we didn't feel everyone could hear us, unless they came into the room where we were playing.

Wedding, Gate Street Barns, Bramley Saturday 19th August

Oh what a super Wedding !

It was a beautiful venue and the family were so kind and appreciative of our playing.

We even had 3 guests and one of the little girls having a go.

It was very windy and chilly, despite the sun, but we all thoroughly enjoyed playing and even stayed a little longer because the family wanted to make sure we had been given a proper clap.

Handmade Fair, Leatherhead Parish Church Hall Saturday 28th October

Panache were asked to provide the entertainment for a locally organised craft fair at which Jack, one of the members of the group, was exhibiting his handmade bags. Unfortunately the footfall was not great and there were very few people through the door. However the members of the stalls did appreciate our music very much and it was great to play the songs from our repertoire having been working on Christmas pieces for a month or so. It was a very long day as I had taken my father for an operation in Kent in the early hours of the morning and then returned afterwards to take him back home again.

Symphony Travel 30th Birthday, Fetcham Thursday 23rd November

We were asked if we could provide some music for Symphony Travel's 30th Birthday celebrations at their store in Fetcham. Despite being a normal teaching day we managed to get the pans to the shop and squeeze them in between the desks and guests. It was a sunny day and the heat in the shop window started to cause the Bass pans to go slightly out of tune which was bizarre at the end of the November, but we were very well received and the customers and employees thoroughly enjoyed our tunes. I even managed to get them back into the Pan Room all ready for my new family group at 4.30pm.
